In a word, Deloris is caring. Being a helpful companion and community member is important to her — which is why she dedicated her career to taking care of our neighbors with disabilities.
Since retiring, Deloris has lived on a tight budget as she tries to manage the increased costs of living on a fixed income. That means healthy food isn’t always a given for her.
Thankfully, Deloris found out about Treasure Coast Food Bank’s agency partner, Welcome House Center, while working as a healthcare companion. When she stops by the Welcome House Center, Deloris has access to plenty of nutritious food to take home.
“The money you’re not having to spend [on food] can be spent on other things,” Doloris explains gratefully, adding “I really love the [Welcome House] day center…it has become like a family.”
It’s your generosity that makes it possible for Deloris to have access to healthy meals as well as essential personal and hygiene items.
A caring neighbor, Deloris makes sure to share the help she receives. “Anything I don’t use, I give to others,” she says.
Thank you sincerely for partnering with neighbors like Deloris to help end hunger on the Treasure Coast!
