Amayah and Ayani were all smiles the day they visited Mustard Seed Ministries, a Treasure Coast Food Bank partner. Nitzaida, who has been raising them since Amayah was a baby and Ayani was just a toddler, brought them in to pick up food from the pantry.

The girls, now aged 5 and 7, enjoy school, basketball and gymnastics.

“I want to learn an aerial and splits,” Amayah says.

Nitzaida wants the girls to eat healthy foods since they are both so active. She let them select grapes and lettuce before adding chicken and vegetables to their cart, always keeping an eye out for her favorite, zucchini.

Mustard Seed is a lifeline for many families during the summer months when children no longer have access to breakfast and lunch at school.

For Nitzaida’s family, fresh, nutritious foods help to keep everyone healthy and strong, and she appreciates that the agency has also helped her with enrolling in Medicaid and in getting access to medicine to help with her arthritis.

Thank you for your partnership that is enriching the lives of children like Amayah and Ayani and their loving caregivers, now and all summer long!
