In the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic, amazing volunteers like Sara Walpole are stepping up. Sara began volunteering after the pandemic began to spread. She signed up online and started making food deliveries to seniors and individuals throughout St. Lucie County who are unable to leave their homes due to the pandemic.
Though not all volunteers feel comfortable making deliveries during the pandemic, Sara faithfully shows up, follows protocol and helps safely get the food to those who need it.
“It’s nice to be able to help [neighbors] out,” she says.
The time spent serving has also opened Sara’s eyes to the need in her community, and how much your generous gifts are making a difference each day.
Sara works as a real estate agent and also does work in agriculture, so she says her work hours are flexible, allowing her to volunteer regularly. That’s something she plans to continue doing as long as she’s able and there’s a need.
“Nothing makes me feel better than helping other people,” she says.
Thank you, Sara, for going above and beyond to make sure more people have nutritious food on the table this holiday season, and beyond.
