Position Summary:

 

Perform general warehouse duties and assist in the inventory and distribution of all products, incoming and outgoing products received and distributed from the warehouse facility. This includes the physical handling of products, rotation of stock, inspection of boxes, and operation of material handling equipment. The Warehouse Associate will also assist in maintaining the warehouse as stipulated by Safety and Sanitation guidelines. This position requires accurate record-keeping and extensive interaction with the public and other staff members.

 

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Complete all assignments in such a way as to maintain the integrity of products through proper inspection, handling, and storage procedures following Safe Food Handling guidelines.
  • Pull agency orders quickly and accurately.
  • Unload incoming trucks as required. Weigh and verify all products being received and distributed.
  • Assign product code(s) to incoming products not previously established in the computer system.
  • Verify paperwork associated with all incoming and outgoing transactions.
  • Label all stock per inventory control procedures.
  • Ensure proper inspection, handling, storage, and distribution of all inventories following Safe Food Handling, OSHA, Feeding America (FA), Florida Association of Food Banks (FAFB).

Ensure, through continuous supervision, monitoring, and reporting procedures, that all standards are met in accordance with:

  • Safety Rules, Guidelines, and Policies
  • Sanitation Program
  • USDA – TEFAP/NSLP
  • AIB Standards
  • Feeding America Guidelines
  • Inventory Control and Distribution Procedures
  • Regulatory Compliance OSHA, County, Fire, Building codes
  • Equipment usage and safety procedures
  • Ensure consistent application of the “first-in-first-out” rule.
  • Ensure proper stacking of all products, stock storage spaces, rearrange, and restack products

 

 

Warehouse:

 

  • Assist with the loading and unloading of trucks
  • Assist with customer service, warehouse operations, forklift operation, product handling, and sanitation
  • Check and record temperatures and condition of refrigeration equipment
  • Assist in receiving the incoming product and with quarterly product inventories
  • Assist with physical inventory of products
  • Maintain proper storage separation of food and non-food items
  • Maintain forklift charging area
  • Participate in the implementation of Sanitation Guidelines and Standards
  • Participate in the implementation of Safety Guidelines and Standards
  • Advise management of the need for repairs of facility and equipment
  • Advise management of any safety and sanitation violations
  • Maintain distribution area stocked with perishables and frozen products available for distribution
  • Emphasize Mission and Values consistently
  • Communicate suggestions, ideas, improvements, and other constructive feedback to management
  • Assist Director of Operations in other duties as assigned
  • All other duties as assigned

 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

 

  • Ability to manage time efficiently and to work independently with minimum supervision
  • Ability to work cooperatively with other staff, volunteers, and agency personnel
  • Must be able to operate large machinery as needed and lift up to 75 lbs. comfortably
  • Forklift certification is preferred but not required; however, certification will be expected before the 90-day probationary period ending
  • Good judgment and discretion
  • Ability to represent Treasure Coast Food Bank in a courteous and professional manner
  • Detail-oriented person, capable of working under pressure and meeting deadlines
  • Must be comfortable working in refrigerated and freezer environments for extended periods throughout the shift; appropriate PPE is provided.
  • Ability to use warehouse equipment and stand for long periods without assistance
  • Must be able to read and understand English.
  • Must pass a math test.
