Title: SFSP Food Care Specialist                                                Reports to:  SFSP Kitchen Manager

Position Summary:

 

Safely transport summer meals program food to sites within the Treasure Coast area. Carry out all summer feeding program aspects of warehousing from receiving, storage, and distribution. Maintain trucks and equipment, mileage logs, program paperwork, work with the summer feeding team as needed and other duties as assigned.

 

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

 

Transportation:

 

 

  • Make local pick-up and drop-off of program food
  • Transport product to multiple agencies and other entities as needed
  • Promptly and safely load and unload trucks on location and on-site deliveries
  • Operate vehicles and machinery, as necessary, to complete the deliveries (box trucks, vans, etc.)
  • Maintain mileage records, including miles captured for the delivery of USDA product
  • Perform preventative and light maintenance on vehicles, including pre-and post-trip inspections, checking and adding fuel, water, oil, fluids, checking tires, and air pressure, starting and maintaining refrigeration units, performing and supervising volunteers in the cleaning of vehicles
  • Report any damages or conditions to the Kitchen Manager
  • Load and unload the organization’s product/coolers/meals
  • Finish all paperwork connected with transport of products or meals
  • Transport products and materials securely to areas where they are needed
  • Guarantee that products and materials are protected and secured
  • Follow all food safety rules and guidelines when handling or transporting food, including accurately taking and recording food temperatures
  • Answer meal site inquiries, as could be allowed
  • Ensure timely transport of products and materials to and from places as instructed by Manager and Kitchen supervisor
  • Ensure that vehicles are always kept perfect and clean by removing all trash, debris, paperwork from the inside and cleaning/sweeping the cargo parts of the vehicle
  • Carry out routine checks on vehicles and ensure they are sound
  • Report any instance of mishap or accident to the Manager or supervisor
  • Report any case of accident, injury, or damage to vehicles to the Manager or supervisor
  • Keep all records, including receipts for vehicle maintenance
  • Keep up a travel log to record areas traveled to, travel time, and work hours
  • Dress professionally and in accordance with the organization’s dress code

 

Warehouse:

 

  • Assist with the loading and unloading of trucks
  • Assist with customer service and warehouse operations
  • Check and record temperatures and condition of refrigeration equipment
  • Assist in receiving the incoming product
  • All other duties as assigned

 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

 

  • Ability to manage time efficiently and to work independently with minimum supervision
  • Ability to work cooperatively with other staff, volunteers, and agency personnel
  • Must be able to operate large machinery as needed and lift up to 75 lbs. comfortably
  • Forklift certification is preferred but not required; however, certification will be expected before the 90-day probationary period ending
  • Good judgment and discretion
  • Ability to represent Treasure Coast Food Bank in a courteous and professional manner
  • Detail-oriented person, capable of working under pressure, and able to meet deadlines
  • Possession of current Florida driver’s license, liability insurance, and a clean driving record
