This program prepares and distributes breakfast, lunch, and snacks for children on summer vacation. Volunteers will receive a briefing on the day’s meal(s) to be distributed to Summer Meals Program sites; issue and document Summer Meals, load meals into hot/cold holding containers; accurately document times that meals were picked-up, equipment was returned and issued; wash, clean, sanitize & store kitchen tools, containers & equipment. Assist with general pick-up/clean-up as needed and  requested by Executive Chef: wash, sanitize and store kitchen tools and equipment, prep for next day’s meal, sweep, mop and store supplies as needed.

Who: Up to 30 volunteers per shift

Groups and individuals work together to sort and/or pack produce, nonperishable foods, and household items, preparing them for distribution. Duties may include checking for expiration dates, opened packages and spoilage, labeling cans, and packing bags of produce.

Friends & Family Volunteer Day is a day that celebrates the power of families working together to make a difference! It’s a perfect opportunity for parents and mentors to bond with and teach children valuable, real-life lessons about compassion and the power of making a difference.

This is a wonderful opportunity to provide direct service to some of the most vulnerable people of your community. Volunteers participating in our Volunteer Delivery Program will deliver perishable and non-perishable food items directly to the homes of clients in our community.

Drivers will be provided with orientation and training as well as tracking your mileage for deductions if they wish.

Additional Requirements: Must be willing to allow a criminal background check performed by Treasure Coast Food Bank (separate link will be emailed). Drivers must provide proof of a valid driver’s license and proof of auto insurance.

Every month Treasure Coast Food Bank provides a mobile pantry within each of the four counties we serve – Indian River, Martin, St. Lucie, and Okeechobee counties.  Volunteers assist the Mobile Pantry Coordinator by breaking down pallets of product, packing bags if necessary and handing out product to clients. Volunteers will also collect vouchers from clients and help with traffic control, verify clients have vouchers before receiving product, if a client does not have a voucher then qualify client and assisting them with voucher, as directed. Duties will also include cleaning up the area and stacking pallets and trash into truck. Events usually last around 3-4 hours

Who:  Up to 50 volunteers
Age Requirement: Minimum age is eight years old and requires adult supervision.
Dress Code: For safety, absolutely no sandals or flip-flops, please wear closed-toed shoes. Dress for the weather including sunscreen and hat. Volunteers may want to bring gloves.

Throughout the year Treasure Coast Food Bank participates in a variety of events throughout our four-county service area.  Volunteers serve as ambassadors spreading the word about the work we do at outreach events. They also assist with behind-the-scenes duties for events including soliciting donations and sponsorships and onsite event setup and breakdowns.

Age Requirement: Minimum age is 15 years old.
Dress Code:  Varies. Volunteers should wear cloth that is appropriate for the specific type of event that are assisting with.

Volunteers are needed for a variety of administrative tasks including internet research, letter folding, stapling pamphlets, data entry, answering phones, etc. Your skills can help the staff in valuable ways!

Social Sorting is a new series of events designed to create monthly volunteer opportunities for anyone looking for ongoing and meaningful experiences. ​ Make new friends, and give back to our community while enjoying treats, beverages, and great tunes. Laughs and a good time guaranteed.

Age Requirement: Adults 21 and older must present a photo ID to receive a wrist band and drink ticket which can be used during the second “social” half of the event. Minimum Age is eight years old and requires adult supervision.

Hunger Heroes teach, lead and mentor volunteers for warehouse sorting projects of up to 65 volunteers. This position requires an outgoing personality, verbal and motivational skills  and experience working with diverse populations including persons with special needs. This opportunity is perfect for retirees and students that are off for the summer & holidays. **Requires prescreening and willingness to make at least a three-month commitment to a regular schedule.
