Job Training Programs

 

Treasure Coast Food Bank’s job training programs support self-sufficiency, address the root causes of hunger, and provide job readiness opportunities for unemployed or underemployed individuals interested in entering growing career fields.

We actively offer programs in culinary training, supply chain management, CDL certifications, hospitality, and barista training.

All programs include life skills training and professional preparedness training, which encompass resume writing, interview skills, and soft skills training alongside industry standardized courses.

Eligible individuals who qualify can attend our courses free of charge.

Culinary Training Academy

12 weeks • In-person • Fort Pierce, FL

✓ Certified by the American Culinary Foundation

Graduate certifications include:

  • ServSafe International Managers’ Certification (National Restaurant Association)
  • Certified Guest Service Professional (American Hotel & Lodging Educational Institute)
  • Nutrition 2.0 Certification (National Restaurant Association)
  • Certified Fundamentals Culinarian (American Culinary Federation)

Supply Chain Training Program

10 weeks • In-person • Fort Pierce, FL

Trains participants in the three basic functions– receiving, order processing and shipping. In partnership with area distribution centers, our participants are learning in entry level operations and logistics skills both in the classroom, in hands-on labs and in operating warehouses.

  • Certifications on various types of warehouse power equipment (standing pallet jacks, walk behinds) and gas and electric forklifts (sit and stand) and electric reach trucks
  • ServSafe Food Handlers certification
  • Food safety and compliance audit training
  • Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) standards for supply chain safety
  • Food Safety and Modernization Act (FSMA) compliance guidelines

Barista Training Program

1 week • In-person • Fort Pierce, FL

In partnership with local business Café and Roasters, is focused on young people ages 16-24, providing certifications including Barista One (BH Coaching International) and ServSafe International Food Handler Certification (National Restaurant Association)

  • Presently developing a series of Continuing Education Courses (1 day) for training of local restaurant staff.

Hospitality Training Program

1 week • In-person • Fort Pierce, FL

The Hospitality Industry – including hotels, restaurants, drink service, event, catering, travel and tourism – is a great industry to work. In response to the growing demands TCFB Hospitality Training Program offers interested students the tools needed for starting your career in hospitality.

  • Presently developing a series of Continuing Education Courses (1 day) for training of local restaurant staff.

Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) Program

8 weeks • In-person • Fort Pierce, FL

CDL program revised to meet new DOT regulatory changes effective February 2022. Participants receive both the theory and skills training necessary to pass Florida CDL License Test.

  • Course study – 2 weeks of classroom theory education prior to taking the CDL Permit test
  • 6 weeks of skills training including yard training, range, and road driving
  • CDL Licensing Test
  • Apprenticeship Program available for qualified graduates
  • Comprehensive program covers 35 units of study.

Benefits Outreach Program

Our Benefits Outreach team reaches out to eligible low-income people who are not currently participating in SNAP, Medicaid, Florida Kid Care, and TANF and shares information about the benefits of the program to help them make an informed participation decision. The program also includes nutrition education, health & wellness workshops, economic mobility presentations, senior programs, child nutrition programs, and more. It provides individuals and families with the tools they need to achieve independence, health, and financial stability and is available in English, Spanish, and Creole

Whole Child Connection is designed to provide a simple, straight-forward way to connect local families with the help that they need. It is available to all Martin County children and their families, ensuring anonymity while giving them access to a wide range of community services. The goal is to help families lead a healthier, more fulfilling life.
