What will you do as a Marketing and Communications Specialist at Treasure Coast Food Bank?

The Marketing and Communications Coordinator plays a vital role in supporting the development and implementation of the organization’s marketing, communications, and public relations strategies. This position is essential for promoting TCFB’s mission, from increasing public awareness to enhancing the brand’s presence across various platforms. The role is further responsible for additional key aspects of marketing and communications, including content creation, media relations, social media management, event promotion, writing and editing compelling stories, press releases, blog posts, and other communication materials that align with TCFB’s mission and goals. As marketing and communications are crucial to the Food Bank’s efforts across the organization, the Marketing and Communications Coordinator closely partners and collaborates with the Development and Marketing department to support campaigns, events, client outreach, and general awareness.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and manage multimedia content, such as videos, graphics, photos, and other visual content for various platforms, including social media, websites, email newsletters, and print materials.
  • Write and edit compelling stories, press releases, blog posts, and other communication materials that align with TCFB’s mission and goals.
  • Plan, execute, and monitor social media campaigns across all platforms, engage with followers, respond to inquiries, and foster a strong online community (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn, etc.).
  • Track and analyze social media and campaign performance metrics and adjust strategies to maximize engagement and reach.
  • Assist in promoting and coordinating community events, fundraisers, and food drives.
  • Create promotional materials such as flyers, brochures, and digital ads.
  • Manage event-related communications, including invitations, press outreach, and post-event follow-ups.
  • Ensure consistency in messaging and branding across all communications.
  • Maintain and update TCFB’s website with relevant content, ensuring a user-friendly experience.
  • Support the design and distribution of branded merchandise and marketing collateral.
  • Assist in developing and maintaining relationships with local media outlets.
  • Coordinate media coverage and manage press requests.
  • Monitor and archive media mentions and coverage.
  • Track the effectiveness of marketing and communication efforts using analytics tools (i.e., Meltwater, Google, Metricool, etc.).
  • Prepare regular reports on campaign performance, media coverage, and other key metrics.
  • Perform other duties as needed to fulfill our mission, drive our vision, and abide by our values.
  • Essential business/ first responder: In instances of a federal, state, or locally declared emergency, Treasure Coast Food Bank is an essential business service and emergency responder. All employees may be required to perform regular or emergent duties on-site. Employee safety is balanced with business and community necessity. Some positions are more likely to be required on-site than others.

 

Knowledge Skills & Abilities:

  • Minimum 1-3 years of experience in marketing, communications, or a related role. Nonprofit experience, a bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, or a related field, is a plus.
  • Knowledge of the local media industry is a plus.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills (i.e., impeccable grammar, communication skills, vocabulary, ability to create presentations and talking points, and knowledge of AP style writing)
  • Proficiency in social media platforms and management tools.
  • Experience with graphic design software (e.g., Adobe Creative Suite, Canva, etc.) and content management systems (e.g., WordPress).
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook); project management tools; and customer relationship databases.
  • Highly collaborative. Enthusiastic and passionate about marketing and communications, and engaging in all aspects of TCFB’s work and mission.
  • Exceptional attention to detail. Ability to work independently and plan for long-term success, prioritize assignments, and focus on multiple large-scale projects in a deadline-driven environment. Simultaneously manage near- and long-term deadlines.
  • Creativity and resourcefulness to problem-solve and maximize available resources.
  • Ability to regularly attend work functions outside of normal work hours, on weekends, and evenings.
  • Insurable driving record and access to reliable transportation.

 

Physical Requirements & Acknowledgement:

 

This work is in an office environment.  Physical activities necessary in the performance of this job: the ability to sit at a computer workstation for up to eight hours at a time. Ability to move, bend, lift, and carry up to 30 lbs. on occasion throughout the Food Bank facility.  Ability to communicate in a clear speaking voice in person and over the phone.   Ability to interpret instructions and questions when asked.  After business hours, work is required occasionally throughout the year. Frequent travel between the quad-county areas using personal vehicles is required.
