Treasure Coast Food Bank hosts Food As Medicine Town Hall
Treasure Coast Food Bank is hosting an invite-only town hall on Sept. 10, for Hunger Action Day, where attendees will learn about the organization’s Food As Medicine initiatives and program expansions. The town hall will highlight the food bank’s latest initiative, FreshCareRX, a medically tailored meal program to support individuals with specific health conditions through customized nutritious meals. Healthcare experts, food bank leadership, program facilitators and food as medicine advocates will share information on the transformative power that healthy food has on the community.

WHAT: The town hall will feature presentations from leadership and local healthcare experts in addition to a Q&A session. The event will provide an overview of food as medicine, with a focus on the health of neighbors on the Treasure Coast. In fact, 25% of Treasure Coast residents struggle to access the nutritious food essential for maintaining a healthy lifestyle and quality of life.
The concept of food as medicine addresses the interconnectedness of food and health, which has spurred a collective movement to address the disparities in access to healthy and healing foods. Additionally, the Elevance Health Foundation will present a check to support the Food as Medicine initiative, reinforcing our commitment to improving community health.
