FORT PIERCE, Fla. – June 8, 2026 – With schools now closed for the summer, Treasure Coast Food Bank is expanding its Summer Meals Program to reach more children across Indian River, St. Lucie, Martin and Okeechobee counties.
The program runs from June 8 to Aug. 7 and provides free breakfast, lunch and snacks to children and teens 18 and under at sites across the Treasure Coast. Locations include parks, libraries and community centers. No registration is required.
In addition to traditional sites, Treasure Coast Food Bank operates rural non-congregate sites in select communities, offering convenient grab-and-go meal distribution for families. These flexible locations allow families to pick up multiple meals at once, helping overcome transportation and access barriers in rural areas.
For many families, summer brings added pressure on already tight budgets. Without school meals, families must cover the cost of additional meals each week.
“Summer should not mean uncertainty for families,” said Judith Cruz, President and CEO of Treasure Coast Food Bank. “When school is out, we step in so children across our communities have consistent access to the meals they need. This program helps families stay on track during the months when they need support the most.”
Meals are served in safe, familiar locations close to where children live and play. The Food Bank works with local partners to bring meals directly into neighborhoods, making it easier for families to take part.
The Summer Meals Program reaches thousands of children across the Treasure Coast each year and helps fill the gap when school cafeterias are closed.
