Partnering for Relief: Treasure Coast Food Bank’s Summer Meals Program
Teams Up to End Summer Hunger
Easing the Financial Strain on Families and Caretakers This Summer
FORT PIERCE, Fla. – May 30, 2024 – Families facing financial strain due to soaring food costs this summer can seek support from Treasure Coast Food Bank’s Summer Meals program. Available at various sites across the Treasure Coast, this initiative provides breakfast, lunch, and snacks to children aged 18 and under, completely free of charge. The program will start on Monday, June 3, and run through August 9, 2024.Treasure Coast Food Bank President and CEO Judith Cruz emphasized the program’s significance, saying, “Our kids should never have to worry about where their next meal will come from. Our Summer Meals network allows families neighborhood access to kid-approved healthy meals and snacks in the summer months, filling gaps when school cafeterias are closed.”
In collaboration with numerous organizations across the region, Treasure Coast Food Bank has expanded access to the program. Families can find convenient meal sites at community centers, churches, libraries, and summer camps. To locate a nearby site, neighbors can visit Summer Meals Program – Treasure Coast Food Bank (stophunger.org).
Every weekday, children who visit our partnering sites enjoy fresh, nutritious meals and participate in fun enrichment activities and physical activities focused on the promotion of healthy eating and healthy living. The freshly prepared meals are made daily in Treasure Coast Food Bank’s Food Production Kitchen.
Treasure Coast Food Bank aims to continually expand the number of Summer Meals sites throughout the season, urging parents to regularly check for nearby locations. Organizations interested in participating as a Summer Meals site are encouraged to contact summermeals@tcfoodbank.org for more information.
