Ronald, 70, loves playing bluegrass music and making people smile. But lately, he says it’s your kindness that’s putting a smile on his face.
That’s because, thanks to your generous gifts, Ronald can take home nutritious groceries from the Treasure Coast Food Bank’s Mobile Pantry at the Okeechobee Agri-Civic Center.
“I appreciate this very much,” he says.
Ronald served in the Navy and is a Vietnam Veteran, and he also worked as a roofer for 37 years. Now that he’s retired, he says his Social Security and VA pension is barely enough to pay his bills — leaving little money, if any, left over for food.
“I’ll be happy with whatever I can get so I can make it through the end of the month,” he says.
Ronald shares that two of his brothers recently passed away and his roommate became so ill that Ronald needed to find a new roommate.
“I’ve been through a lot lately,” he says.
On top of all that, Ronald has his own health to consider. He had two strokes, is diabetic and has COPD. He’s especially grateful to have access to healthy groceries like fresh vegetables and fruits through the food pantry.
Ronald has had to take a break from playing his guitar right now because of his strokes, but you’ve inspired him to find other ways to give back to his community.
“I hope to pay it forward soon,” he says.
Thank you for helping make sure our community’s seniors have the nutritious food they need to thrive this spring and beyond![/fusion_text][/fusion_builder_column][/fusion_builder_row][/fusion_builder_container]
