Thanks to the generosity of Treasure Coast residents and the Publix Food For All campaign, Treasure Coast Food Bank has received a gift of $150,000.

The gift, which was announced this week, is the largest that Treasure Coast Food Bank has received from the program, a 20 percent increase over the previous year.

“We’d like to thank the entire Publix team for its support, enthusiasm and commitment to making a difference in our community,” Treasure Coast Food Bank President and CEO Judith Cruz said. “Publix has a longstanding commitment to fighting hunger with us on the Treasure Coast, and we’re proud to be a part of it.”

Nearly $1.9 million was raised in South Florida from the 2016 annual fundraiser and distributed to 72 South Florida non-profit organizations.

The campaign ran during December 2016. At each Publix, customers and associates contributed by purchasing donation coupons of $1, $3 or $5 amounts.

“This program shows that every single dollar donated makes a difference,” Cruz said. “A special thank you goes out to Publix customers for their compassion and generosity.”
