As the federal government shutdown stretches into a third week, Treasure Coast Food Bank is seeing a 10–15% increase in people seeking help — including local federal workers now missing paychecks. Chief Strategy Officer Krista Garofalo said the food bank, which already assists over 250,000 residents weekly, could face challenges if the shutdown continues, especially with ordering new food supplies. SNAP benefits are secure through October, but if funding runs out in November, about 80,000 local residents could be affected. Garofalo encouraged community members to donate food or money to help meet the growing demand.
