Treasure Coast Food Bank and Florida Department of Agriculture kick off summer meals with a party in Fort Pierce

The statewide Summer Breakspot program provides free meals to kids 18 and younger at more than 4,000 locations across the state while school is out.

Treasure Coast Food Bank and the Florida Department of Agriculture and Community Services are partnering to host a Summer Breakspot party in Fort Pierce on Monday, June 10, 2019, to let children and families know that meals are available.

It takes place from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at Treasure Coast Food Bank’s YourPlate Health & Wellness Center, 1203 Orange Ave. in Fort Pierce. Children who attend will receive a free meal and can participate in games such as musical chairs, hula-hoop, and hop-scotch. There will be music and giveaways from radio station 97.9 WRMF which will broadcast from YourPlate during the event.

Everyone also can enjoy fresh watermelon slices donated from a local grower.

The program provides breakfasts, lunches, and snacks, which vary by location, and runs through Aug. 9, 2019. For more information or to find a location visit stophunger.org  or SummerBreakSpot.org.
