FORT PIERCE — Treasure Coast Food Bank was one of four Florida food banks benefiting from the expansion of Wawa stores.
The Wawa Foundation donated $100,000 to Feeding America with the opening of its 100th store in Florida, which was shared among the food banks in the areas where stores had opened. Wawa opened the 100 stores between 2012 and 2016 throughout Central and South Florida.
The convenience store chain known for fresh, built-to-order foods plans to continue its expansion into South Florida with 120 or more stores opening by 2022.
Wawa General Manager Mike Sierotowicz made a personal visit to Treasure Coast Food Bank recently to take a tour and learn about its work fighting hunger.
“We’re excited to see a business with such a strong sense of community come into the Treasure Coast, and we appreciate having Mike personally visit Treasure Coast Food Bank,” said Judith Cruz, Treasure Coast Food Bank CEO. “We’re looking forward to a lasting partnership with Wawa.”
