“Our goal is for every parent to feel confident, capable, and fulfilled in raising their children,” says Ashley Watson the Administrative Manager of Healthy Start Coalition in Indian River County.
Through nine distinct education and support programs, Healthy Start serves families from preconception through age 5.
“Being able to engage directly with families through maternity navigation makes all the difference in getting them what they truly need,” Ashley says.
While meeting physical needs is critical, the team at Healthy Start also emphasizes the importance of emotional well-being.
“Every family we help is a success,” Ashley says. “Even small things like diapers and wipes make a big difference.”
Treasure Coast Food Bank and Healthy Start work together to support families with a diaper pantry that also provides wipes.
“The savings from the diaper pantry are huge,” Ashley explains. “We can use that to make sure families get everything else they need.”
Programs like Healthy Start provide critical resources for countless Treasure Coast families as they navigate uncertainty and ongoing high prices.
“Helping a family isn’t just about the material items,” shares Ashley. “It’s about letting them know someone sees them, supports them, and cares.”
