Nearly 1,000 Thanksgiving turkeys and holiday meal boxes distributed today from Treasure Coast Food Bank

Treasure Coast Food Bank distributed holiday meal boxes and turkeys to nearly 1,000 families Wednesday at the food bank’s headquarters in Fort Pierce.

Cars snaked down Angle Road and though the parking lot as volunteers and staff loaded each with turkeys and boxes of fixings for Thanksgiving dinner.

This holiday season, Treasure Coast Food Bank has distributed 10,000 holiday meal boxes, each filled with staples and traditional sides for a family of four.

Treasure Coast Food Bank wishes to thank everyone who donated food as well as the St. Lucie County Sheriff’s Office, who sent deputies to help ease the traffic from the overwhelming response to today’s distribution.

On Thanksgiving morning between 8 and 9 a.m. more than 50 volunteers and Treasure Coast Food Bank staff will be distributing to-go style Thanksgiving meals from its headquarters at 401 Angle Road, Fort Pierce, to anyone who needs a prepared holiday meal.
