Marvin, 55, is resilient and remains positive despite the challenges he’s encountered. While serving in the U.S. Navy, Marvin sustained a serious injury, which required multiple surgeries and revealed other complications which led to years of intensive treatment.
“They told me I was going to die, but I had friends who walked with me every day. That’s what kept me going.”
Before his injury, Marvin had a career as a specialty carpenter. He enjoyed taking on complex projects like building custom staircases, cabinets, and intricate woodworking designs.
Now, as the cost of living remains high, Marvin often has a hard time affording healthy food on his Social Security disability income, especially with medical co-pays and insurance costs.
Friends like you help make it possible for Marvin to visit Market Fresh on the Move, Treasure Coast Food Bank’s mobile neighborhood grocery, to pick up nutritious food.
“I’ve been through a lot, but I’m still here,” shares Marvin. “And I’m thankful for every bit of help that lets me keep moving forward.”
Your generosity helps provide a lifeline for older adults like Marvin who are living on a fixed income.
“Market Fresh helps people like me feel seen. It’s not just food — it’s a reminder that someone still cares,” says Marvin.
