Since she was six months old, Susan has called Vero Beach home. She raised four children here, ran her own pool cleaning business and has stayed active in our community by volunteering.

“I get joy out of volunteering,” she says, explaining how her faith and desire to help have led her to serve her neighbors.

Susan got involved at Treasure Coast Food Bank through her church. What started as a one-time thing helping deliver food to a local senior facility soon became a regular endeavor.

For many of our older neighbors, Treasure Coast Food Bank is a lifeline. One in five of the people who receive our services are seniors who often face additional barriers to food like transportation or fixed income.

Now, Susan spends two days a week helping to deliver monthly food boxes containing grocery items like canned vegetables, rice, and milk directly to the homes of older neighbors in need through our senior focused programs.

“I actually feel blessed when I see other volunteers who put in so much time,” Susan says, adding “to be a part of that makes me feel good.”

We are so grateful to Susan for sharing so much kindness and personal time to further our shared mission. Thank you, Susan!
