Join us for our Food for Thought tour at Treasure Coast Food Bank’s state-of-the-art produce processing plant and learn how we are feeding the Treasure Coast with locally sourced, nutritious produce.
Treasure Coast Food Bank is committed to significantly increasing the amount of fresh, nutritious food for children, seniors, and families who are struggling with hunger in our community.
The state-of-the-art production kitchen extends the shelf life of produce, thus expanding the number of people who have access to it through two systems – a wash/chop/packaging system to convert whole produce into pre-cut portions, and a cook/vacuum-pack system to convert raw vegetables into ready-to-use products, such as tomato sauce, sautéed vegetables, or soups. During summer, the plant’s focus is on preparing hundreds of nutritious meals each day for area children fed through Treasure Coast Food Bank’s Summer Meals program. The processing plant has created jobs, training opportunities, and a new market for area farmers.
