Walmart\, Sam’s Club\, Feeding America and member food banks are committed to providing meals to people in need\, and with our sixth annual nationwide “Fight Hunger. During summer\, the plant’s focus is on preparing hundreds of nutritious meals each day for area children fed through Treasure Coast Food Bank’s Summer Meals program. For some\, it’s the only meal they receive each day. April is the time of year we start to turn our attention to making sure that kids along the Treasure Coast don’t experience hunger in the summer. We do that with the help of you and our community by securing extra funds\, extra volunteer hours\, and extra food drive donations. \nNext month we begin our summer meals meal program: preparing more than 3\,200 meals a day. Without help from you and Treasure Coast Food Bank\, these children will miss meals this summer. During summer\, the plant’s focus is on preparing hundreds of nutritious meals each day for area children fed through Treasure Coast Food Bank’s Summer Meals program. Chef Leavy has ten years of experience teaching high school students and is excited to share his skills with you. SUMMARY:Friends & Family Volunteer Day - Treasure Coast Food Bank 2019
DESCRIPTION:  \nFamily Volunteer Day is a day that celebrates the power of families who work together to support their neighbors in need here on the Treasure Coast who may not know where their next meal is coming from. \nThe first Saturday of each month\, families use this day to teach children valuable\, real life lessons about compassion and caring as we work together to sort and pack food\, sort items for our Teen Pantry\, pack backpacks for children\, pack senior and veterans boxes and bag pet food for those struggling with the issue of hunger. \nVolunteering also can be a great way for kids and adults to develop skills\, learn more about their community and make friends. \nChildren 8 years of age and older with adult supervision. \n  \n \n  \nAdvance registration is required.\nAge Requirement: Minimum Age is eight years old and requires adult supervision.\nDress Code: Due to safety concerns all volunteers must wear close-toed shoes (no sandals or flip flops) and clothes appropriate to work in a warehouse environment.

Click here to register for next month’s tour”\nTreasure Coast Food Bank is committed to significantly increasing the amount of fresh\, nutritious food for children\, seniors\, and families who are struggling with hunger in our community. \nThe produce processing plant extends the shelf life of produce\, thus expanding the number of people who have access to it through two systems – a wash/chop/packaging system to convert whole produce into pre-cut portions\, and a cook/vacuum-pack system to convert raw vegetables into ready-to-use products\, such as tomato sauce\, sautéed vegetables\, or soups. During summer\, the plant’s focus is on preparing hundreds of nutritious meals each day for area children fed through Treasure Coast Food Bank’s Summer Meals program. Last year over 500 dedicated volunteers united at our distribution center to make the event a success. \nThis years goal:\n10\,000 holiday meal boxes in 24-hours.\nWe can’t do it without YOU!\n \n \nGather your friends\, family\, and co-workers and sign up for one of our three-hour shifts. Enjoy music\, karaoke\, delicious food generously donated by local vendors\, raffles and more all while packing the house! DESCRIPTION:  \nJoin us for our Food 4 Thought tour at Treasure Coast Food Bank’s state-of-the-art produce processing plant and learn how we are feeding the Treasure Coast with locally sourced\, nutritious produce.\nTreasure Coast Food Bank is committed to significantly increasing the amount of fresh\, nutritious food for children\, seniors\, and families who are struggling with hunger in our community. \nThe produce processing plant extends the shelf life of produce\, thus expanding the number of people who have access to it through two systems – a wash/chop/packaging system to convert whole produce into pre-cut portions\, and a cook/vacuum-pack system to convert raw vegetables into ready-to-use products\, such as tomato sauce\, sautéed vegetables\, or soups. During summer\, the plant’s focus is on preparing hundreds of nutritious meals each day for area children fed through Treasure Coast Food Bank’s Summer Meals program. The processing plant has created jobs\, training opportunities\, and a new market for area farmers. \nWe are excited to share with you our approach in doing so! \nWhen: October 24\, 2018\nTime: 10:30am – 12:00pm\nWhere: 3051 Industrial 25th Street\, Fort Pierce \nComplimentary lunch will be provided by Healthy Harvest Catering\, a program of Treasure Coast Food Bank. \nThe tour and lunch are free.
