They deliver food. Last year we collected 249\,250 pounds of food! \nThe 25th Annual National Association of Letter Carriers’ Stamp Out Hunger Food Drive is the largest single-day food drive in the world and helps local food banks\, including Treasure Coast Food Bank\, feed the one in six Americans who struggle with hunger. On May 13th\, letter carriers will collect non-perishable food items that residents leave in or near their mailboxes. This is also the perfect time for all our snowbirds to clean out their cabinets and pantries before heading back north. \nVolunteers are needed for this once a year food drive that will bring more than 200\,000 meals to those who are food insecure here on the Treasure Coast. There are multiple locations to sign up for. Hours vary per location. \nFor more information call 772-489-3034. \n[/fusion_text][fusion_text] \n\n\n\n\n	Location NameLocation Address\n\n\n	Fort Pierce Main Post Office5000 W Midway Rd\nFort Pierce\, FL 34981\n\n\n	Orange Avenue Post Office1717 Orange Ave\nFort Pierce\, FL 34950\n\n\n	Winn Dixie Lakewood Park4807 N Kings Hwy.\nFort Pierce\, FL 34951\n\n\n	Jensen Beach Post Office2301 NE Savannah Rd\nJensen Beach\, FL 34957\n\n\n	Council on Aging2501 SW Bayshore Blvd\nPort St. Lucie\, FL 34984\n\n\n	Floresta Elementary1501 SE Floresta Dr.\nPort St. Lucie\, FL 34983\n\n\n	Port St. Lucie Post Office2255 SE Veterans Memorial Pkwy\nPort St. Lucie\, FL 34952\n\n\n	PSL Civic Center9221 SE Civic Center Pl\nPort St. Lucie\, FL 34952\n\n\n	St. Lucie West Post Office290 NW Peacock Blvd\nPort St. Lucie\, FL 34986\n\n\n	Treasure Coast High School1000 SW Darwin Blvd\nPort St. Lucie\, FL 34953\n\n\n\n\n[/fusion_text][fusion_button link=”https://stophunger.org/volunteer” target=”_self” alignment=”center” hide_on_mobile=”small-visibility\,medium-visibility\,large-visibility” color=”default” stretch=”default” icon_position=”left” icon_divider=”no” animation_direction=”left” animation_speed=”0.3″]Signup to Volunteer[/fusion_button][/fusion_builder_column][fusion_builder_column type=”1_4″ layout=”1_4″ spacing=”” center_content=”no” hover_type=”none” link=”” min_height=”” hide_on_mobile=”small-visibility\,medium-visibility\,large-visibility” class=”” id=”” background_color=”” background_image=”” background_position=”left top” background_repeat=”no-repeat” border_size=”0″ border_color=”” border_style=”solid” border_position=”all” padding=”” dimension_margin=”” animation_type=”” animation_direction=”left” animation_speed=”0.3″ animation_offset=”” last=”no”][fusion_imageframe image_id=”9683″ style_type=”none” hover_type=”none” align=”center” lightbox=”no” linktarget=”_self” hide_on_mobile=”small-visibility\,medium-visibility\,large-visibility” animation_direction=”left” animation_speed=”0.3″]https://stophunger.org/wp-content/uploads/2017/04/77504604-5ab3-4c98-be51-dbe761cd288b.jpg[/fusion_imageframe][/fusion_builder_column][/fusion_builder_row][/fusion_builder_container]

SUMMARY:Older Americans Month 2016
DESCRIPTION:Solve Senior Hunger \nIn 1963\, President John F. Kennedy proclaimed the month of May in honor of older persons across America. As the country pays tribute to its senior citizens during Older Americans Month\, Treasure Coast Food Bank is committing to fight for better resources for the most vulnerable among them. \nAs the Baby Boom generation ages\, the population of older Americans is expected to be the largest in the history of the country. For many\, their golden years are marked by food insecurity. \n“At a time in their lives when our seniors should be able to live comfortably\, we see many struggle for basic needs\, especially food\,” Treasure Coast Food Bank CEO Judith Cruz said. “We encourage everyone to join with us in advocating for federal dollars available to help us feed vulnerable seniors.” \nPlease click here for TCFB’s press release on Older Americans Month. \n\nTake Action \nThere are several ways to get involved\, locally\, in the fight for the Treasure Coast’s most vulnerable seniors. \nYou may volunteer at our Distribution Center\, where you’ll sort and pack food and essential non-food items for seniors and others who receive assistance from TCFB and its agency partners.  Please click here to sign up for a volunteer opportunity convenient to you. \nYou may also donate. For every dollar donated\, we can provide eight nutritious meals to local seniors in need. \nYou can also become an advocate for local seniors. \nThis year\, Feeding America and food banks across the country like Treasure Coast are committed to closing the Senior SNAP Gap.  Click here to help close the Senior SNAP Gap. \nFeeding America has a list of other action steps you can take in May and throughout the year to speak up and raise awareness about seniors.

SUMMARY:Fight Hunger. Spark Change. 2016
DESCRIPTION:Buy products. Donate at the register. Share your efforts. Small acts will add up to big aid for those fighting hunger through Walmart’s “Fight Hunger. Spark Change” campaign that begins today across the nation. \nThe Treasure Coast community can participate in the campaign in several ways\, including just shopping at Walmart for items from participating manufacturers. The campaign is expected to generate the equivalent of 75 million meals for Treasure Coast Food Bank and other Feeding America partners. \n“We’re extremely thankful for Walmart’s Fight Hunger. Spark Change campaign\,” Treasure Coast Food Bank CEO Judy Cruz said. “We get tremendous support from the Walmarts on the Treasure Coast\, and this is just one more very easy way that Walmart and the community will help us to fight hunger here at home.” \nFrom now through April 25\, there are three easy ways to Fight Hunger and Spark Change: \n\nEvery time you purchase a participating product in Walmart stores\, the manufacturer will donate 9 cents to Feeding America\, up to the manufacturer’s maximum donation. Several national brands are participating\, including Campbell’s\, General Mills\, Kellogg’s\, KraftHeinz\, and Pepsico.\nUsing #FightHunger on Twitter\, Facebook and Instagram when you share and like campaign posts or showing support on www.Walmart.com/fighthunger also will generate donations. Twitter has developed a custom emoji for the Fight Hunger. Spark Change campaign. When you Tweet using the hashtag #FightHunger\, the custom emoji will appear after the hashtag. For each online act of support\, Walmart will donate enough to help Feeding America secure 10 meals on behalf of member food banks.\n\nWalmart will kick off the campaign with an initial donation of $1.5 million to Feeding America\, and has set a goal of reaching a total donation of $3 million based on the public’s social engagement. \nShoppers also can donate at cash registers in Treasure Coast Walmarts. All donations made from Treasure Coast ZIP codes will benefit Treasure Coast Food Bank and those struggling with hunger on the Treasure Coast. \nHunger has been a persistent problem on the Treasure Coast and across America. Every week\, Treasure Coast Food Bank and its partner agencies distribute more than 105\,000 meals to people who don’t have enough to eat\, including children\, seniors and veterans.
