“It is an opportunity to make a difference,” says Bill Wadbrook who spends his retirement giving back.

While attending a meeting for volunteers in his neighborhood, Bill proposed a monthly food drive. Now he spends the last Thursday of every month picking up donated food from bins placed at neighbors’ houses in his community, PGA Village Verano, as well as surrounding neighborhoods.

“We have a problem in St. Lucie County,” says Bill, hoping to encourage more neighbors to volunteer. “1 in 4 [individuals] suffer from food insecurity.”

As Bill works to expand his monthly food drive even more, they have formed partnerships with organizations and businesses like Kolter Homes. PGA Village Verano has already provided 20,973 meals for neighbors facing hunger.

“I will do anything I can to help the community,” says Bill.

Thank you, Bill, for working with Treasure Coast Food Bank to unite our community to support our neighbors!
