Every day, the heart of Treasure Coast Food Bank’s mission beats stronger — thanks to the hands and hearts of our volunteers.

One of these dedicated volunteers, Diana Pena, first began volunteering at the Food Bank during a transition in her life. She had just lost her job and was unsure of what was next. She hoped that helping her neighbors might give her a fresh perspective, and maybe even open new doors.

Diana started volunteering in our production kitchen. From prepping meals to working alongside other volunteers and staff, every task helped her grow, rediscover her confidence, and tap into new strengths.

“It’s brought me a deeper understanding of who I am, and the gifts I’ve been created with to share with others,” Diana says.

Volunteering has helped Diana come out of her shell, allowing her to connect with others, build relationships, and feel part of something larger than herself.

Diana’s journey didn’t stop in the kitchen. Her reliability and eagerness to learn opened the door to an additional opportunity, gaining new skills as a Volunteer Office Assistant. Volunteering gave her the skills, insights, and confidence she needed to transition from manufacturing into a receptionist role.

We’re so grateful for Diana and all our volunteers who dedicate their time and talent to help end hunger in our community.
