FORT PIERCE, Fla. – March 28, 2024 – April marks Volunteer Appreciation Month, and Treasure Coast Food Bank is honoring the invaluable contributions of all volunteers who support its mission and vision of a hunger-free community. With an annual average of 45,000 volunteer hours donated, equivalent to 24 full-time positions, these neighbors play a monumental role in the reach of the food bank’s direct services and programs on the Treasure Coast and beyond.
“We are grateful for our volunteer community of over 10,000 strong,” remarked Judith Cruz, President and CEO of Treasure Coast Food Bank. “Together, we are feeding families and empowering healthier futures.”
The celebration of Volunteer Appreciation Month kicks off with Friends and Family Day on Saturday, April 6, from 9-11 a.m., highlighting the power of community working together to uplift their neighbors. Additionally, the food bank will recognize volunteers on social media and through other activities during the month.
“Volunteers are the heart of Treasure Coast Food Bank, and they help us harness the power necessary to distribute meals to 250,000 neighbors weekly,” continued Cruz. “With the support of their collective spirit, we continue to create lasting change.”
Volunteer opportunities at Treasure Coast Food Bank are accessible to anyone interested in making a difference and contribute to impactful projects across the organization. Whether it’s warehouse packing and sorting of nutritious food or assisting in meal preparation at the Food Production & Processing Kitchen in Fort Pierce, there is a volunteer activity suited for everyone of any skill set. Customized volunteer opportunities for corporate groups and team-building events are also available.
