Event benefits Treasure Coast Food Bank and Hurricane Irma recovery efforts

Help support Treasure Coast Food Bank and Hurricane Irma recovery efforts by attending the inaugural HOPS FOR HUNGER event this week at three of Vero Beach’s favorite local spots – Walking Tree Brewery, Kilted Mermaid, and Waldo’s!

All three bars are competing to see who can raise the most food for families in need on the Treasure Coast. Each person who brings in a minimum of $5 in non-perishable foods will receive a delicious Walking Tree pint. Please feel free to bring more! In addition to the pint, each person gets a raffle ticket for a chance on winning a one-night stay at The Driftwood, and gift certificates to all three bars. The winner will be announced on Saturday afternoon at Waldo’s. Donate a bag at each event and get three chances to win!

“I want to thank Walking Tree Brewery, Kilted Mermaid and Waldo’s for hosting HOPS FOR HUNGER. This is a wonderful way not only to support those on the Treasure Coast who are struggling with hunger or have been affected by Hurricane Irma, but also to support the wonderful efforts of local community partners,” said Judith Cruz, President and CEO of Treasure Coast Food Bank. “In times of crisis, the Treasure Coast never fails to show its community spirit.”

HOPS FOR HUNGER begins on Thursday, Sept. 14, at Walking Tree Brewery from 6-9 p.m. In addition to the food drive, there will be raffle prizes, live music and more! SoFlo Bistro Truck will be there and will donate a portion of its proceeds to Treasure Coast Food Bank to help support hurricane Irma recovery efforts and families in need along the Treasure Coast. This is a family friendly event!

On Friday, September 15th, head to Kilted Mermaid from 6-9 p.m. for another great evening and bring your bag of non-perishable food for another Walking Tree pint and raffle ticket!

The event culminates on Saturday, Sept. 16, at Vero Beach’s legendary Waldo’s between 1 and 4 p.m. Don’t forget to bring your bag of food for a free Walking Tree pint or purchase Waldo’s popular rum bucket for $10. All proceeds from the rum buckets will support our neighbors in need. For every $10, Treasure Coast Food Bank is able to provide 80 meals!

The raffle winner will be announced at Waldo’s on Saturday.
