Treasure Coast Food Bank’s 10th Annual ‘Pack the House’ Delivers Hope for Neighbors Impacted by Hurricane Milton and Holiday Hardships

Funding will provide 520,000 healthy meals for neighbors on the Treasure Coast

FORT PIERCE, Fla. – Nov 1., 2024 —Treasure Coast Food Bank held its 10th Annual ‘Pack the House’ event on October 25-26, rallying the community to pack 15,000 holiday meal boxes for neighbors who are struggling financially. Over the two-day event, 1,000 volunteers helped raise $65,000—equivalent to 520,000 meals—and assembled 500 disaster relief kits, which will go to those affected by Hurricane Milton. This impactful event was made possible with the support of our sponsors A-1 Industries, Cleveland Clinic Martin Health, Walmart Supply Chain, Verdex Construction, and Premier Lab Supply.

“In the two weeks following the storm, we’ve distributed nearly two million pounds of food and served thousands of hot meals,” said Judith Cruz, President and CEO of Treasure Coast Food Bank. “This would not be possible without the tremendous support of our partners and volunteers. Together, we are making a real impact in the lives of our neighbors.”

This event is one of several ways Treasure Coast Food Bank is working to ensure that every family will have a holiday meal. The rising cost of food and essential items, along with the devastation from Hurricane Milton, has put increased strain on families already facing financial hardship. To support their community, Treasure Coast Food Bank is hosting expanded mobile distributions. Community members are encouraged to make a difference by making a financial donation or volunteering their time. Frozen turkeys are also being accepted at the Food Bank’s headquarters at 401 Angle Road in Fort Pierce, Monday through Friday, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.

“Our mission is to ensure everyone on the Treasure Coast can enjoy a holiday meal, regardless of the challenges they may face,” said Cruz. “In the lead-up to Thanksgiving, we will distribute holiday meals through our 300 partner agencies and our mobile distributions to reach families with the resources they need for their own special holiday meals.”

This holiday season, community members can support Treasure Coast families by visiting stophunger.org/beyondthetable to contribute or learn about volunteer opportunities.
